Ellen K. Burbano, LMFT, LCSW, BCD Ellen Burbano is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Masters in Social Service degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1979, and she completed a three-year postgraduate clinical certification program in Marriage and Family Therapy through the Family Institute of Philadelphia. She is a member of AAMFT, NASW, Academy of Certified Social Workers, and has a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. Her clinical experience includes providing individual, couples, and family therapy using a systems-oriented, holistic perspective in her work, integrating the most effective modalities appropriate to each person/couple/group in her therapy practice. She uses family-of-origin work to enrich and strengthen individuals, couples, and families in their lives together. She works to strengthen communication skills both within family networks and in family’s interactions with larger societal networks. Ms. Burbano is committed to helping parents and families become effective advocates for their school-age and adolescent students who may have emotional, behavioral and/or school-related issues. Ms. Burbano is fluent in Spanish and enjoys working with people from diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Ms. Burbano believes that people generally possess
the inner strength, resilience, and resources to move toward growth and
healing, transcending even the most traumatic and life-altering events.
