Allison Fox Powers (Wyndmoor Office Only) holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and certified in Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy. She is a clinical member of The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
In her clinical practice, Allison works with children, adolescents, and adults providing individual, couple, and family psychotherapy in a safe and supportive environment. She values building a strong therapeutic alliance with each one of her clients in order to support them in their journey towards happier lives and more fulfilling relationships. Some of her areas of clinical interest include depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma recovery, parenting difficulties, relationship/marital issues, and stress management. Allison has extensive training and experience in Family Systems Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She utilizes a strength-based and collaborative approach while working within both a family systems orientation and a cognitive behavioral framework. She also integrates aspects of other therapeutic approaches in order to individualize treatment and best address the identified issues of each client.
Allison began her career in the mental health field as a Research Assistant in the University of Pennsylvania’s Psychopathology Research Unit where she had the opportunity to work on research studies with Dr. Aaron Beck, the founder of Cognitive Therapy. During graduate school she received clinical training at the Council for Relationships and completed an internship at The Freire Charter School.
